REAL KICKBOXING (RKB): CONDITIONING WORKOUT The Real Kickboxing classes focus on bag work, conditioning and getting a great workout. The difference between the Bag Workout and the Striking class is the level of technique that is taught. In the Bag Workout you will learn the basic kicks and punches, but it will not go further in-depth than the basics. This class focuses on repetition and endurance, where the Striking class focuses on skills. This in combination with the Striking class is the magic of stand-up striking skills. Without the repetition and workout of the Bag Workout classes you can only progress so far, without the technique of the Striking classes you won稚 get the proper speed, power and distancing that is required for a good kickboxer. The two classes together; unstoppable!
WOMEN担 REAL KICKBOXING (RKB): CONDITIONING WORKOUT (These classes are exactly the same as regular RKB Classes)
MMA STRIKING In the technique, or Striking, classes you値l learn proper technique step by step. This class is a combination of Muay Thai, Boxing, Savate, and Jun Fan Kickboxing. At a beginning level, you値l learn the stance, footwork, body mechanics, basic punches and kicks, basic elbow and knee strikes, basic clinching and combinations. You値l also learn simple, practical, and easy to learn defenses that will work against any type of strike. You値l work with a partner on equipment including focus mitts, Thai pads and kicking shields. This will help your accuracy and timing. At an intermediate level, you値l learn more advanced boxing, kicking, elbow and knee strikes, defense, combinations, clinching, sparring drills and basic self- defense. At an advanced level, you値l learn advanced techniques and strategies for in and out of the ring including counter-punching, free-sparing, competition training and advanced self-defense application. You can become certified in our mixed Striking class as well as in Muay Thai.
MMA GRAPPLING With the recent popularity of the UFC it seems everyone is learning ground fighting or grappling. Our Grappling classes are a combination of Greco, Collegiate and Freestyle Wrestling. Ground submissions are from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Filipino Dumog, Shooto and European Catch Wrestling. All classes are no-gi with an emphasis on technique and controlling your opponent. You will learn takedowns, sweeps, clinching, pummeling, position control and transition, chokes, joint locks and a variety of submissions. Whether your aim is solid street defense, competition or just a phenomenal workout, our Grappling classes will get you there.
YOUTH MMA The youth program at ABQ Kickboxing is a blend of Kickboxing, Boxing, and Judo / Jiu-Jitsu. Our focus is on the skills and principles that will last a lifetime, such as: respect, discipline, compassion, integrity, honor, self-confidence and courage. Your youth will also develop better physical attributes including: balance, coordination, endurance, flexibility and fine motor skills. Children & Pre-teens with these mental and physical skills have a positive attitude, feel more secure and will be less likely to give into peer pressure

Known as the king of the ring, Thai Boxing is the
national sport of
Thailand. Thai
Boxing or Muay Thai includes kicking and punching as well as devastating
elbow and knee strikes. For this reason, Muay Thai is sometimes called the
science of the eight limbs.
FILIPINO MARTIAL ARTS (*Traditional aspects of the Filipino Arts & Cultures will be taught in this class) The FMA class is a blend of weapon and empty hand fighting skills. In this class you will learn offensive and defensive maneuvers with the stick, sword, dagger and empty hand. Everything from basic striking patterns with the stick, to advance strips and joint locks are taught with and without the weapons. You will learn how to flow from one attack to the next seamlessly and without interruption.
JUN FAN
MARTIAL ARTS -
JEET KUNE DO (*Traditional aspects that pertain to Jun Fan
arts will be taught in this class) This concept of self-expression is achieved through the Jun Fan Gung Fu curriculum. At ABQ Kickboxing, we teach the original JKD philosophies and Jun Fan curriculum as passed down from Sifu Dan Inosanto, Bruce Lee's training partner, friend, and the person he chose to carry on the art. Jun Fan Gung Fu is the collection of physical techniques developed by Bruce Lee in his personal research of the martial arts. The Jun Fan curriculum emphasizes economy of motion in four basic ranges of combat: kicking, punching, and trapping (hand immobilization) and grappling (ground fighting). Regardless of the range, students will learn to defend and quickly remove themselves from a confrontation if necessary.
COMPETITION TEAM: HARDCORE CONDITIONING This Program mixes every form of training available. No two sessions are the same during the program. This program is unlike anything else out there. There is only one level for this program: INTENSE!! Some of the types of techniques used during the program will be "Strong Man Training", Anaerobic Threshold Training, High Intensity Training, Traditional Power lifting, Muay Thai, Grappling & MMA Sparring to mention only a few. Hardcore Conditioning is the most intense form of training that ABQKB & MMA offers. It is designed to make the athletes work harder than they thought they could possibly work. It is not uncommon for participants to feel weak and nauseated while going through this program. This is not for the faint of heart.
